Mystic Wines was started by Rick Mafit in 1992. Rick spent several years making wine in California’s Sonoma and Medocino Counties, before bringing his love of ‘big red’ varietals north to the Willamette Valley. He then went on a search for the best big red wine growers in Oregon, which he succeeded in finding in the Columbia Valley. Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Barbera and Cabernet Sauvignon soon become his staples and what Mystic has become most well known for. Mystics’ estate fruit is Pinot Noir, Pommard clone planted in 2002 and a recently planted Dolcetto block that will be mature enough to harvest in 2016.
Mystic Wines iconic monochromatic label was designed by Ricks’ eldest son, Dillion, who was just 12 years old when he created it. The label has proved to be memorable and unique in the wine industry. It is the perfect invitation to what is held in each Mystic bottle; memorable wines that are artfully created by a man who simply loves to make, drink and share good red wines.
